How to Get Rid of Dark Circles

We all know how irritating those dark circles under our eyes can be.  It makes you look tired and older than you really are. How can we get rid of those dark circles? First, we need to know what causes them. There are several reasons for dark circles.

  • You inherited your dark circles from your family.

Yep, you can blame them on your genes. Some families have hereditary conditions that cause darkness under the eyes. My family on my father’s side all have dark circles, and it gets worse as we age. I’ve had to deal with it my entire life. People are always asking me if I’m tired. It has to do with the pigmentation under our skin and the thin layer of skin below the eyes.

  • Allergies

Your allergies cause your blood vessels to dilate. Since the skin under our eyes is very thin, it causes those swollen blood vessels to appear darker than they really are.
3.
  •   Eczema

Even this skin condition can cause dark circles under eyes. The eczema itself is not causing your dark circle buts the continual rubbing of the eyes is. It causes increased swelling, inflammation, and broken blood vessels in the eye area making it look like dark circles.

  • Bone Structure

The way your face is shaped could be the cause of dark circles. It could cause your face to indent right under the eyes that cause a look of shadows.

  • The sun

Another reason we should protect our face from the sun. Since the area under the skin is so sensitive, the sun can cause damage to the blood vessels thus resulting in a dark look under our eyes.

  • The color of your veins.

Do you have blue veins or brown veins under your eyes? Look in the mirror and lower your chin just a little bit. Can you see blue or brown veins? Blue veins are more noticeable in the morning when you first wake up. Your body has been laying in a horizontal position for hours and the veins have expanded to hold more blood. Blue veins also seem to get worse with age. Brown circles result from hyper-pigmentation resulting from endless eye rubbing, sun damage, or genetics.

Now that we know the causes. What can we do about them? There are many products out there that work, but I’m going to share with you what works for me. Like I said before, mine are genetics, so many products I’ve tried never worked for me. I have tried a lot over the years. I finally found something that helps. It doesn’t get rid of it completely, but it’s the best at making them look less. First, eating healthier has a lot to do with it. When I’m eating more greens and foods with fiber, my bags and circles seem to diminish more. Also, drinking more water helps with blood circulation. Once you’ve changed some of your eating habits, start using products to assist. Here are some products that I’ve been using.
